HEALTHY SPORT FIELD PLANT GROWTH


Our practices that provide sport field managers with a vigorous and healthy turfgrass can include the following: Aeration, Topdressing & Overseeding

Aeration

A proper aeration program is one of the most important cultural practices that can be performed on the field. Aeration is important on all soils, but it is critical on soils that have a heavier clay texture. The amount of oxygen and water that can infiltrate into the soil is critical for root development and survival. Aeration reduces the compaction in the soil and provides a source of oxygen to the root zone. It also increases the infiltration rate, especially when using topdressing to fill the aeration holes and feed the root zone with nutrients and water holding compounds.

Topdressing

The 1/8" to 3/8" of topdressing blends from Turf Masters Ltd offers excellent results for smoothing rough surfaces by adding organic amendments and changing the structure of soils to include more sand for better drainage. To meets the needs of our clients, Turf Masters Ltd will provide a special 'four spot' compost/sand blend field reserach trial. Preliminary results from the trials, i.e. early green up and stronger grass growth, will then be used to make a longer term maintenance plan.

Overseeding

Ensures a good stand of turf grass which establishes competition against weeds and maintains good growth to help combat diseases. Overseeding, the method of Injecting new seed into the existing grass surface, is an inexpensive way to rejuvenate exisiting turf on large areas without constly reconstruction of fields or taking fields out of play for an extended period of time. The Turf Masters Ltd advanced overseeding unit is precisly placed 1 and 5/8" apart to uniform depths. Independent coulters adjust to the conour of the land, providing optimum potential results. The overseeding units 'floating tires' allow minimal compaction of seeded areas during application.
